SBI Wants Customers To Link PAN With Aadhaar For Seamless Banking Services
The State Bank of India (SBI) is telling customers to link their Permanent Account Number (PAN) with an Aadhaar number. This will make it easier for you to do things at the bank, and your PAN will work well. You won’t have any problems.
Taking its official Twitter account, the bank tweeted, “We advise our customers to link their PAN with Aadhaar in order to avoid any discomfort and continue enjoying a seamless banking service.”
For people who do not know, if they have a PAN card, then they can get an Aadhaar. If they already have one, then it is important to tell the Income Tax Department.
Why Is Linking Of PAN And Aadhaar Mandatory?
In September, the Central Government gave people more time to get their PAN and Aadhaar. It cannot get in your mouth or nose, but it can get in your blood.
To do some transactions, you need a PAN card. For example, opening a bank account or dealing in securities or transactions related to immovable property.
You can get one of these cards by either applying for it by filling out the right forms at the bank or getting an Aadhaar card. The PAN card is linked with your Aadhaar card because both are needed for tax administration.
The government can keep track of financial transactions if you link them. And this will help the government find people who are trying to cheat on taxes.
How To Link PAN And Aadhaar?
Via SMS – To link your PAN and Aadhaar, just type UIDPAN and send it to either of the two numbers. Once it is sent, the message will be received and linked to your Aadhaar.
Via income tax e-filing website – If you want to link PAN and Aadhaar, follow these steps:
- Go to the official website of the IT department, incometax.gov.in and then click on ‘Our Services‘.
- You will need to enter your PAN, Aadhaar information and your phone number.
- You will get a message that says your Aadhaar is successfully linked to your PAN.
How You Can Check Aadhaar-PAN Status?
If you want to know if your PAN-Aadhaar link is working, you should click the ‘Link Aadhaar Status’ and enter your PAN and Aadhaar. If both documents are linked, then it will tell you that they’re linked.
You can check the status of your Aadhaar card if you send a message with your 12-digit number and PAN to 567678 or 56161. You will get a response through a text message.
PAN-Aadhaar Linkage Deadline
In September, the government gave people more time to link their PAN with their Aadhaar until March 2022. The government has extended the time limit for giving your Aadhaar to the Income-tax department. You can give it to them by March 31, 2022.
PAN is a number that you must have if you want to do many things. It is a number that starts with 11 and goes up to 99. There are some other numbers that start with the letter A and go up to Z, but these are not as important as PANs. You can’t get it from another document, so it’s important to link your Aadhaar card with your PAN card so the government can see what you’re doing.
