Mamaearth has become the newest unicorn club after raising almost $3 million from a freshly invested round of funding. This propelled the company’s valuation to more than $1 billion.

Mamaearth anticipates issuing 839 Series F compulsory convertible preference shares to Sequoia Capital for INR 284 billion. The next round of funding is likely to draw plenty more capital from existing investors.

The funding takes place almost five months after the announcement of a $500 million investment from Sofina Ventures, followed by a $730 million valuation, from Sequoia Capital, together.

Founded by Ghazal and Alagh in 2016, Mamaearth began with goods for baby care, before transitioning into a complete line of personal-care products.

The startup offers a wide array of different products for hair, face, and skin, specifically those that are dermatologically tested and FDA approved. Its products are also stated to be certified Made Safe.

MamaEarth’s large-scale investors include frequent heavyweights Sequoia India, Stellaris Ventures, Fireside Ventures, Marico CEO Rishabh Mariwala, Snapdeal co-founders Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal, and actress/fashion designer Shilpa Shetty Kundra.

The new enhancement comes several days after fresh content company Momspresso’s MomSpresso MyMoney content website got women-focused. Mamaearth’s services are primarily in contrast to brick-and-mortar marketplace sites such as Nykaa, Cosmetics, Plum, WoW Skin, Purplle, and others.

It ought to be noted that for the majority of these start-ups, 2021 was a truly unique year because of the gaining of investment this year. While SUGAR Cosmetics secured $21 million in its Series C round in February, Purplle has raised more than $100 million after two rounds. In April this year, WoW raised $50 million through two rounds of investment.
